How to plait hair: The Fish Tail Plait

This striking plait looks deceptively difficult to achieve but follow our simple steps below and you’ll have mastered the fish tail plait  in no time!

  • Making sure the parting falls straight down the middle of the back of your head, divide your hair into two large sections.
  • Pull a thin strand of hair from the outside of the left section and pull it tightly over to the inside of the right section.
  • Repeat on the other side and keep going until you run out of hair.
  • Secure with a band.

VK Hairstyling’s top tip for the perfect  fish tail plait: to make hair more manageable, particularly if it is thick, wash and condition it and then create the plait whilst the hair is wet.
